Bay Ridge White Sail Intersection-Heavy Rain Drainage Improvements
League City is currently requesting proposals for a project intended to alleviate street ponding during heavy rain events at the intersection of Bay Ridge Drive and White Sail.
The project includes the installation of:
- A grated inlet at the median crossing on Bay Ridge Drive
- A separate curb inlet at the southeast corner of the White Sail intersection
- Approximately 300 linear feet of 12-inch and 18-inch stormwater piping
The new infrastructure will convey stormwater to an existing curb inlet located at the corner of Mariner Drive. and Bay Ridge Drive.
Estimated Timeline:
Proposals for this project are due by Friday, May 22, with the intent to seek City Council approval in June 2026.
If approved, priority construction can begin as quickly as late June with project estimated completion this summer.

Phase 1: Bay Ridge Flood Reduction
This project is designed to prevent the drainage ditch along SH96 from overflowing into the neighborhood during heavy rainfall events. This is achieved by raising the roadway, including the storm sewer piping, at the entrance of the neighborhood.
Capital Improvement Project Budget: $1,086,216.45 (Construction) and $113,700 (Design)

Anticipated Substantial Completion: April 2026
Bay Ridge Phase 2-Compelted September 2025
Phase 2 is one of four planned projects impacting the Gum Bayou Watershed and the Bay Ridge Subdivision.
This project phase adds capacity to the current detention pond by deepening and adding a dedicated pump station to pump storm water out of the pond and into Gum Bayou after a major rainfall event.
