Wisconsin Avenue Drainage Project

This project is designed to improve stormwater drainage along Wisconsin Avenue, 3rd Street, and 4th Street, in the Historic District to help with flooding. We are installing 24-inch & 36" pipes and storm boxes underneath existing roadside ditches.

Capital Improvement Project Budget: $2,142,742

Current Status May 2026:

Construction resumed as of April 27, 2026

UPDATE:

Lucas Construction remobilized to the site April 27th. They are installing the new 8-inch waterline, replacing an aging concrete asbestos waterline.
This work is anticipated to take approximately two months to complete.

Once completed, the contractor will resume installation of the storm improvements.

Construction notice* Construction was on hold due to a Centerpoint gas line that had to be relocated to install the new waterline along Wisconsin. Centerpoint has completed that relocation and construction has resumed.

Construction notice* During construction, a waterline installed in the 1950s was identified. Replacing this waterline has been added to the project.

Bid date: Completed January 2025

Original Construction start date: May 2025

Original completion date: January 2026

Estimated New Date for Construction: May 2026*

Estimated New Date for Substantial Completion: November 2026.

May 2026 Wisconsin Project Update

Waterline installation resumed mid-May 2026and isis halfway complete.

Over the next two weeks, crews will finish the new water main and begin testing before placing it into service. Storm sewer drainage work along Wisconsin will follow once the line is operational.
