Asphalt Street Rehabilitation Project Drop-Down Menu: Descriptions and FAQs.

This project will fix and improve several streets as part of the City’s yearly road repair program. The work includes repairing the road base, adding new asphalt, and rebuilding parts of each road in the order below. This is subject to change based on weather.

We know neighbors may have questions, so we created this FAQ to help explain the project.

What will happen to my mail and trash service during the road work on Austin, Boden, Bern, 7th, and Landrum?

Mail and trash service should continue as normal during construction. Your mailbox may be moved to the other side of the street while asphalt work is being completed. Once the project is finished, the mailbox will be returned to its original location and condition.

Will I still be able to use my driveway?
Yes. The contractor will make sure residents can still access their driveways during the project.

What is the purpose of this project?
This project includes improvements to five streets in League City. The work will help make the roads safer, stronger, and better for the community for many years.

Project Timeline:

  • Anticipated Construction Phase: June 2026
  • Anticipated Substantial Completion: Anticipated December 2026

Project Update 5/20/2026

This project is has been completed. After base design complications League City chose to use a geogrid and limestone instead of a traditional lime treated subgrade and black base, between East Saunders and Walker Street.

The final product has yet to produce ponding and the City is confident in the grant funded reinvestment project outcome.

Project Status Update 5/8/2026

The contractor is finishing placing the second lift of crushed limestone base in the northbound lane between E Saunders and E Walker and anticipating placing level-up the next several days (weather dependent).

One way traffic will switch between northbound and southbound lanes as the contractor places the final asphalt layers.


Project Status Update 4/13/2026

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the contractor is remobilizing on Clear Creek Avenue between East Saunders and East Walker to make repairs to the failed asphalt by removing and replacing the existing base asphalt, retest subgrade, place black base asphalt, place redesign base.

Timeline: Substantial Completion May 12, 2026.

March 2026 Update~

Visible deficiencies were noticed during construction which triggered additional construction materials testing. City Staff and design engineers are reviewing the construction materials testing results to determine the best approach to make corrective actions.

An old, galvanized water line located under the roadway was noticed to be leaking causing some subgrade stability concerns is scheduled to be replaced and relocated by April 2026.


Clear Creek Avenue Rehabilitation Description and Funding.

This project is designed to improve Clear Creek Avenue while maintaining infrastructure integrity using League City Reinvestment Program and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The total budget is $425,223.

During construction, Clear Creek Avenue lanes will be one way traffic to maintain resident access.

  1. How long will construction last? Construction is scheduled to begin the first part of January 2026 with total completion by end of February 2026.
  2. Construction remobilized on April 13, 2026 with a substantial completion date of May 12, 2026.

UPDATE: Corrective actions to the substantial deficiencies with this replacement are underway. This project will now last through May of 2026.

  1. What happens to my mail and trash services during the reconstruction of Clear Creek Avenue? Mail and trash are anticipated to maintain normal service.
  2. Will I have access to my driveway? Yes, the contractor will maintain driveway access.
  3. What is the benefit of this project? This project will improve rideability and maintain the integrity of Clear Creek Avenue.
