What is the Grand Parkway?
State Highway 99 (the Grand Parkway) is a proposed 180-mile circumferential highway traversing seven counties in the Greater Houston area. Conceptualized in the early 1960s, it is divided into 12 segments, 8 of which are already open to traffic.
A segment of the Grand Parkway—known as section B—is a 28-mile, four-lane, controlled access toll road with intermittent frontage roads from I-45 South in League City toward SH 35 in Alvin and on to SH 288 near Rosharon through Galveston and Brazoria counties.
A portion of Segment B, known as B-1 is a 14.2-mile tolled corridor that will run from FM 646 to south of FM 2403 in Galveston and Brazoria counties. TXDOT is slated to begin construction in late 2026/early 2027. The construction will impact several League City roadways, including Hobbs Road, Calder Road, and FM 646.
To ease congestion, improve mobility, and provide better hurricane evacuation routes in the Galveston County region
