Lobit Park Construction Timeline

  • Timeline item 1 - complete

    Phase 1: Design & Master Plan stage

    Design ran concurrently with the Master Plan development. A public hearing was held Monday, September 16th at 6 p.m. at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center located at 400 West Walker Steet.


  • Timeline item 2 - complete

    Phase 1: Workshop and Bid Approval

    City Council Workshop approved Phase 1 on September 24, 2024. Bids for the project opened in August of 2025 and the contract was awarded by City Council on September 23, 2025.


  • Timeline item 3 - active

    Phase 1: Construction Stage

    The park is expected to reopen later this fall and will remain open as Phase Two gets underway.

    • A pre-construction meeting was held October 2025
    • Lobit Park closed to the public October 13, 2025
    • Construction began on October 20th.

    NOTE* Due to bad weather conditions, Phase 1 construction is expected to be completed in September 2026.

Lobit Park Project Updates

Phase 2 design and construction include:

The next phase will bring even more improvements, including a

  • Reconstructed parking lot
  • Two new soccer fields
  • Shade structure over the basketball courts
  • Renovated restrooms
  • New pedestrian bridge connecting the park to the island.
  • Large detention pond for improved site drainage

The bridge will feature a pergola, creating a welcoming spot to enjoy the park’s surroundings
