🏞What is a Parks Open Space Master Plan?

Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan

League City completed the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan chapter update in 2024. The continued chapter edition ensures this plan is meeting the needs of our residents, reflects current and future projects including land acquisition, facility development, and renovations to existing parks, and feedback from citizens. Challenged with rapid population growth, the City of League City has continued to prioritize the development of parks, trails, and open spaces.

Many of League City's "great places" are park facilities, including League Park, the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex, and Hometown Heroes Park. Continuing to develop signature park and recreation spaces in League City ensures the high quality of life residents enjoy.

Existing Parks, Trails, and Open Spaces

League City currently owns and maintains close to 900 acres of park land including active and passive recreation, natural areas, and greenways.

Approximately 70% of park land is developed into accessible, usable space including 15 city parks, two dog parks, 24 miles of hike and bike trails, and 6 miles of paddle trails. League City offers a variety of park amenities including picnic facilities, sports fields, a skate park, boat ramp, 2 pools, 3 kayak launches, a sports complex, recreation center, and access to natural areas and wildlife habitat.

An additional 440 acres of public park land is provided by Harris and Galveston Counties along with a substantial amount of park space provided by semi-private and private entities, primarily homeowner associations. Park types vary from smaller neighborhood parks to large regional parks.

Limit Pickleball at HT Heroes to League City Residents "only". Lots of people outside LC are using it and LC residents sit waiting to play.
